Thanks to Amber for all of her hard work and commitment to the program. As the new Co-Directors, we plan to continue providing high quality coaching in a positive and fun atmosphere. We have each coached many seasons in YDP and are looking forward to building on an already strong foundation. Registration forms can be downloaded at: YDP Form and mailed, with check for $39 to: BYSL-YDP, P.O. Box 51665, Idaho Falls, ID 83402. The registration deadline is March 1. Questions? The U11/U12 program will continue moving forward in providing a positive developmental environment for our youth players. The format of the games will continue to be an 8 versus 8 rather than 11 versus 11 format. Many soccer leagues around the country are moving to this format including most of the leagues in Boise and those that participate in the Snake River league here in Eastern Idaho. Upcoming State Cup competitions will have 8 v. 8 rather than 11 v. 11. Why the change?

  • More touches on the ball to enhance individual player development
  • All players involved more in offense and defense
  • More scoring opportunities, therefore, more excitement and postivie experiences
  • A smaller player-to-coach ratio
  • Maximized interactions and movement during the game
  • Smaller fields to better suit the physical ability of players

Last fall, BYSL worked with the City of Idaho Falls to establish four reduced sized fields at Sunnyside Park to accommodate the U11/U12 teams and the YDP. These fields have been a great benefit as they are more appropriately sized for the 8 v. 8 format and player age. We thank the City and supporting individuals within BYSL for helping with these fields.
